MAYO, SC-- Jessie "Dennis" Turner, 73, husband of 52 years of Ginny Peeler Turner died peacefully with his family by his side at White Oak Manor on Saturday, May 3, 2014. He was a loving husband, father, and papa.
Born August 7, 1940 in Spartanburg County, he was a son of the late Lee Odus "L.O" Turner and Myrtle Lee Cash Turner. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Sherry Mullinax and husband Rev. Chuck of Landrum, Melody Smith and husband Winfred of Chesnee; sister, Betty Bailey of Cowpens; grandchildren, Hailey Branyon and husband John, Audrey Shehan and husband James, Parker Mullinax and wife Amanda, Melody Mullinax, Dalton and Mallory Smith, Dana Hollifield , Kasey Smith and six great-grandsons.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother Chauncey Turner.
Graveside services will be held at 4:00 PM Monday, May 5, 2014 at Springhill Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Chuck Mullinax officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
The family would like to thank all at White Oak Manor who had a part in the excellent care he received in his short time there. We especially want to thank his nurse Sissy; she is such a special person who goes beyond her duties.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Melody Smith, 910 Henderson Road, Chesnee, SC.
