DUNCAN, SC-- Laval "Red" Evins Hammett, 78, of 511 Berry Shoals Road passed away on Friday, July 4, 2014. He was the widower of Jeanette Duncan Hammett and the son of the late Horace and Margie Ramsey Hammett. He was a member of Valley Falls Freewill Baptist Church, VFW Post 9539 in Spartanburg, and International Brothers of Electrical Workers (IBEW) which he worked as an electrician. He had also served proudly in the United States Air Force.
Survivors include two sons, Laval Hammett, Jr. of Pittsburgh, PA and Michael L. Robison and wife Sherry of Jonesville; four daughters, Margaret Jo Palmier of Trafford, PA, Vickie Renee McDaniel and husband, James of Lyman, Lynne R. Coats and husband Tom of Boiling Springs and Darlene Robison of Blue Ridge; two sisters, JoAnn Ledford of Boiling Springs and Sarah Ruth Fine of Inman; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 12:30 PM Monday at Wood Memorial Park with Rev. Chuck Auten officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00 Noon prior to the service at Stribling Funeral Home.
