SPARTANBURG, SC-- Bobby Joe Easler, 77, of 481 Powell Mill Road, died Friday, February 6, 2009, at his home. Born January 21, 1932, in the Cherokee Springs community, he was the son of the late Harry Lee and Lucille McAbee Easler. A 1952 graduate of Wofford College, he was retired from General Motors Acceptance Corporation. He was a member of Fernwood Baptist Church and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, serving as Lieutenant, and the recipient of many medals, including the Bronze Star.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Steading Easler, to whom he would have been married 57 years on February 21; a son, Steven A. Easler and his wife Kay of Boiling Springs; a daughter, Cynthia E. Scarborough and her husband Norman of Clinton; two grandchildren, Kerry Philbeck and her husband Corey, and Kyle Easler and his wife Brandi; four great-grandchildren, Kate and Jake Philbeck, Faith and Graeson Easler; two brothers, Conley Easler and Glenn A. (Bud) Easler, and a sister, Erin E. Ivey, all of Spartanburg. He was predeceased by a son, Jeffery G. Easler; and a sister, Marion E. Becknell.
Visitation will be 2:00-3:30 PM Sunday, February 8, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. Thomas Moore and the Rev. Stuart Jones. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
