SPARTANBURG, SC-- Dorris Phillips Holman, born April 26, 1926, in Salem, IL, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2009 in Spartanburg. Daughter of the late Francis and Edith Phillips, she was one of twelve children and is survived by three siblings: Raymond Phillips of Salem,; Edward Phillips of Anna, IL, and Vernis Phillips of Las Vegas, CA.
She was the loving wife of the late Gregory Holman.
A Retired Registered Nurse, Certified in Behavioral Health, she formerly lived in Littleton, CO, before moving to Spartanburg in 2006.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed canoeing and camping during her life and will be remembered for her beautiful smile, and fantastic pie-making skills.
She formerly attended Abner Baptist Church, and was a member of Skylyn United Methodist Church.
She is survived by four daughters, Lucy Gansauer of Spartanburg, SC, Elizabeth Dante and spouse Paul Graf of Richmond, CA, Edith Sharpe and spouse David, of Littleton, and Sarah Armato and spouse John of Manhattan Beach, CA. She was the loving grandmother of Gregory Dodson, David Gansauer, Michael Sharpe, Dan Sharpe, David Sharpe, Gabriella "Gabby" Armato, and Michael Armato and seven great grandchildren. Her dear friend Margaret Wald was a part of her loving family.
Private family services are scheduled for a later date.
Memorials may be given to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, or Skylyn United Methodist Church.
A special "thank you" to the ICU staff at Mary Black Memorial Hospital, and the staff at Regional Hospice Home for their loving compassionate care and support for her family.
