SPARTANBURG, SC-- Ethel Best Turner, 89, of 2780 E. Main Street, Eden Terrace, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
Born in Cherokee County, NC, she was the wife of the late Paul Turner and the daughter of the late Western Best and Nettie Adams Best. She retired from the textiles industry and was a former owner/operator of Pizza Inn Restaurants. Mrs. Turner was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Zonta Club International and a member of Peach Valley Baptist Church where she was involved in numerous Church activities.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Turner Wilson and husband, Buddy and Linda Turner Patterson and husband, Myron, all of Spartanburg; a brother, Frank Best of Gaffney; a sister, Beulah Best Harris of Gaffney; seven grandchildren, David Wilson, Susan Wilson, Shannon Hardin, Marianne Wilson and husband, Nicholas Boer, Melinda Crowe, Linda Semones and husband, Gary and Mary Pat Boren and husband, Jason; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and three step-grandchildren, Kim Gantenbein, Leslie Grell and Laura Patterson.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 PM on Friday, March 5, 2010, at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Clyde Thomas and Rev. Perrin Powell, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
