WOODRUFF, SC-- Charles Richard "Ricky" Ball, 49, of 239 East Brook Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at his home.
A native of Spartanburg County, he was born May 3, 1961. He was the son of Rev. Charles "Buster" and Betty Pearson Ball of Woodruff. He was a member of the Woodruff Church of God. Ricky was a graduate of Woodruff High School and attended East Coast Bible College. He was employed many years with World Finance in Spartanburg, Greenville and Laurens County and also in Knoxville, TN. He had a passion for music and shared that passion over the last few years with many friends on Faceboook where he recently re-connected with so many and was excited everyday to sign on and communicate with them.
He was a member of the East Coast Beach Band and many people traveled to hear him sing, play his trumpet, and also play the drums. He was a great trumpet player and he used that talent to worship the Lord in his church band.
Ricky also served his country and received an honorable discharge from the United States National Guard.
Surviving are two sisters, Jollene Priester and her husband Rick of Spartanburg and Pam Ball Strickland of Woodruff; his maternal grandmother, Wilene Pearson of Woodruff; two nieces, Ashley Oglesby and her husband Akers of Roebuck and Lynette Tucker and her husband Jason of Woodruff; two nephews, Anthony McAlister and his wife Keri of Moore and Joshua Strickland and Madelyn of Woodruff; three great-nieces; and three great-nephews. Ricky loved all his nieces and nephews as if they were his own.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 3:00 PM at the Woodruff Church of God by Rev. Curtis Terry, James Shealy, and Rev. Richard Dillingham. Interment will follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:45 PM prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky Grubbs, Dwayne Craig, Tony Watson, Joe Kitchens, Travis Richards, Tim Brock, Shannon Littlefield, and David Teague.
Honorary Escort will be current and past members of the East Coast Band.

The family is at the home of his parents, 221 East Brook Drive, Woodruff.
