Mary Louise Ledlow was born in Spartanburg, SC to Lillie Phillips-Fuller and Rev. Theodore Roosevelt Hannah on February 7, 1926, and was the wife of the late Jerry L. Ledlow, all of whom preceded her in death. Mrs. Mary Louise Ledlow departed her life to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at her home after a long illness.
She moved to Detroit, MI at an early age and later returned in the 1960's to work as a seamstress for Butte Knit and S&S Manufacturing. She joined Majority Baptist Church in the late seventies, where she was active until her health failed. Mary was an active member of the NAACP, Clemson Extension as a mentor for teenagers, Eastern Star and Missionary work for her church, and hospitality ministry.
She leaves to mourn, two sisters, Ruby Maybin of Asheville, NC and Vanessa Hannah of VA; one brother, Raymond Hannah of VA; one daughter, Alva Lynette Ledlow-Gray; and one son, James E. Ledlow, both of Spartanburg; six grandchildren, Monica D. Gray of Decatur, GA, Darryl G. (Keisha) Gray, Jr., Nikki A. Gray, Adrian J. (Juanita) Gray, Ashley L. Gray, and Jameson Ledlow, all of Spartanburg; twelve great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
