Bree Haga, 2
BOILING SPRINGS, SC- Bree's Endless Journey Has Begun - Bree Haga blessed us with her arrival on July 14, 2009. Born to her loving Mommy, Kristin LeRoy Haga. She completed The Girls Club consisting of her Gramma Susan Guy, Mommy Kristin, and her now five year old sister Zayla Haga. Bree and her sister had a special bond from the beginning that lasted throughout her entire journey. Her journey began on July 15, 2010 after several months of unexplained symptoms when a golf ball sized tumor was found in her brain which was later determined to be one of the most aggressive childhood brain cancers called Medulloblastoma. She went through emergency brain surgery at MUSC in Charleston to remove the tumor, followed by two more emergency surgeries in the following two weeks. Her journey then led her to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital in Memphis, TN where she underwent aggressive chemotherapy treatments which ended October 2011. On January 18th at her first post-chemo scans we found out devastating news that Bree relapsed yet she continued to fight. Bree underwent another brain surgery on February 27, 2012, in an attempt to remove all the cancer in Memphis, TN. We returned home on March 17th with much hope, since the doctors believed we would have several months of quality time and were planning to live life to the fullest during these months, doing things on our bucket list for Bree.
During this journey Bree has been her Mommy, Sissy, and MaMaw's hero. She had the most infectious smile and big beautiful bright blue eyes that lit up any room she came into. She touched and impacted so many lives around the world with her bravery. Bree carried with her an enduring loving spirit and even through her darkest days fighting she would still smile through the pain. Bree had a love for Barney like no other! She loved to sing and dance and play with anything with her big Sister. She had the sweetest giggle ever and loved puppies. Her voice was amazingly sweet and she loved to talk with her hands. We will forever miss her wonderful hugs, kisses and sweet love.
Her endless journey began April 1, 2012, at 5:29 pm when she left her Mommy's arms to be with Jesus. Our hearts are aching yet we know that one day we will all be joyously reunited together again in a place where there is no cancer, no pain, and no owies. The girls club is a forever club.
Bree also leaves behind her PaPaw Rick LeRoy and very special aunts, Jennifer Jolley Reeves lovingly called "Aunt Jen Jen" and Jennifer Stepp Chapman, along with many other family, friends, supporters that love Bree dearly.
We would like to utilize this opportunity now to thank everyone who has been a part of Bree's Journey. Without the love and compassion from complete strangers, family and friends this journey would have been much more difficult. God blessed us with 992 days, 9 hours, and 7 minutes of Bree's sweet life; not enough days or time.
We will celebrate this precious life on Friday, April 6th at 2:00 PM at First Baptist North Spartanburg. We ask you to join us wearing your Bree shirts. On this day we would love to color the sky Purple for Bree with purple balloons which was her favorite color. After her celebration of life we will release these balloons for Bree at approximately 4:00 pm (150 balloons will be provided). We would love everyone she has touched to do so as well around the world! We ask that you all commit with us on Bree's special day to continue her fight against childhood cancer.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, 302 Ridgefield Court, Asheville, NC 28806 or Children's Security Blanket, 350 Cedar Springs Road, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
