MOORESVILLE, NC-- Victoria Davis Wilson, 62, of Mooresville, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2012, at her home. Born November 6, 1949, she was the daughter of Estelle Dearybury Davis and the late Jack Davis, Jr. of Spartanburg, SC.
She is survived by her brother, Ronald O. Davis, of Mooresville, NC. Vicki was a former member of St. Mark United Methodist Church, Spartanburg, SC, and member of Williamson's Chapel United Methodist Church, Mooresville, NC.
A 1968 graduate of Spartanburg High school, she briefly attended Winthrop University then joined the SC School for Deaf and Blind as a substitute teacher where she discovered her life's goal. She returned to school, graduating from the University of South Carolina-Spartanburg and received her Master's Degree for the Visually Impaired at the University of South Carolina-Columbia. She received the "Teacher of the Year" award her first year teaching in Greenville, SC. She then moved to North Carolina and started her life's work of love. She taught in Mooresville Schools for 30 years where she also received the "Teacher of the Year" award her first year there. Her "children" through the years were her pride and joy.
The family would like to sincerely thank all the workers, caregivers from her church, church members, her school family, special neighbors and family members for all of the love and support demonstrated during Vicki's illness.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Vicki at Williamson's Chapel United Methodist Church on Sunday, July 29, 2012, at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for Hospice at Charlotte, 1420 E. Seventh St., Charlotte, NC 28204, Carolinas Neuromuscular Disease/ ALS-MDA Center, 1010 N. Edgehill Rd., Charlotte, NC 28207 and Williamson's Chapel Missions, 575 Brawley School Rd., Mooresville, NC 28117.
