SPARTANBURG, SC-- Fred "June" Foster, 84, of 225 High Street, died September 20, 2012, at home after an extended illness.
A native of Spartanburg County, he was the widower of Georgia Rosetta Hines Foster and the son of the late Joe Bivings and Blanche Foster Means and Foster Means.
He attended public schools in Spartanburg County. Fred worked for B.L. Jolley Meat Company for 25 years and for Firestone Steel Product for 23 years, where he retired.
As a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, he was active in the Usher Ministry.
He is survived by a son, Freddie D. "Donnie" Foster of Spartanburg; one daughter, Annie J. "Joie" Foster of the home; four sisters, Minnie Rogers of Nashville, TN, Josephine (Curtis) Lawrence of Brooklyn, NY, Jeirline Jones of Columbia, SC, and Shirline Smith of Charlotte, NC; one cousin reared in the home, Thomas J. "Sonny" Foster of Spartanburg; and four god-children reared in the home, Robay "Nikki" Stroble-Lucas of Glen Allen, VA, Eric "EJ", Harrison, and Julian "Big Daddy" Stridiron, all of Spartanburg, SC.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, September 29, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Charles J.J. Jackson, III. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Garden in Drayton.
The body will be placed in the church at 11:00 a.m.
The family will receive friends at the home.
