Alfred E. Beam

ADELPHI, MD-- Alfred Edward Beam, 84, of 3121 Powder Mill Road, Adelphi, MD, died February 28, 2013. A native of Ellenboro, NC, he was son of the late James and Nana Parks Beam and widower of Jane Parker Beam. He was retired from the U.S. Weather Service. He served with the Merchant Marines at the end of World War II and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of Wofford College.
He is survived by a son, Norman Beam (Bobbie) of Virginia; two daughters, Arlene Beam of Virginia and Marie Kovacic (Eric) of Maryland; a brother, Mike Beam of Ellenboro, NC; a sister, Priscilla Prescott of Forest City, NC; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by a brother, Douglas Beam.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
