HUNTSVILLE, AL-- Jesse Rudy Mockabee, Jr. passed on Wednesday, May 22, 2013.
Rudy was the son of the late Mrs. Sadie Mae Mockabee and the late Mr. Jesse R. Mockabee, Sr. He was married to Mrs. Willie Mae Lytle Mockabee of Spartanburg, SC.
For over three decades, Rudy entertained the Huntsville, AL area with his "soulful voice".
Mr. Mockabee leaves his loving family to cherish fond memories and treasure his musical legacy: his daughters, Kimberly Brown and Crystal Mockabee of Spartanburg, SC and Tanya Mockabee of Charlotte, NC.
Fondest of memories are left with his sister, Clarice Teamer of Spartanburg, SC and his brother and his sister-in-law, Loretto and Patricia Mockabee of Cowpens, SC. Rudy will also be missed by his aunt, Mrs. Mary (George) Lander of Clarksville, TN; his seven grandchildren; his great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; colleagues in the entertainment field and friends of the Huntsville, AL community and the Cowpens,SC area.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 299 South Linda Street, Cowpens, SC.
The Reverend Tony Macomson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Mockabee will lie in state at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until the hour of the service.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard Street, Spartanburg,SC.
The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Loretto Mockabee, 5110 S. Main Street, Cowpens, SC.
Out-of-town family and friends will be staying at Holiday Inn Express, 161 Sha Lane, Spartanburg, SC.
