CHESNEE, SC-- George Richard Thrift Jr., 64, of 403 N. Alabama Avenue, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, August 24, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born July 16, 1949, in Spartanburg County, he was the son of Katie Morrow Thrift and the late George Richard Thrift Sr. He was a former Truck Driver and of the Baptist faith.
Surviving is the love of his life, Rebecca Brannon of Chesnee; daughter, Gina Thrift Hannigan and husband Patrick of Mayo; brothers, Wesley G. Thrift and wife Tina of Mayo, Joel "Scottie" Thrift and wife Jan of Mayo; sister, Kathy Thrift Crow and husband Mike of Gaffney; grandchildren, Rachel Campbell, J. Campbell, Shelby Hannigan, Harley Hannigan; and his former wife, Nona Thrift, mother of his predeceased son, Richard "Richie" Darrel Thrift. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father and son, he was predeceased by an infant brother, Johnny M. Thrift.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:00 p.m. Monday, August 26, 2013, at Eggers Funeral Home of Chesnee.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, August 26, 2013, at Eggers Funeral Home Chapel of Chesnee with the Rev. Dale Welch and Mrs. Rosemary B. Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in Springhill Memorial Gardens.
The family is at the home of his daughter, 289 Graham Chapel Road, Cowpens, SC.
