Ralph Longshore Obituary
Ralph Willard Longshore
MOORE, SC-- Ralph W. Longshore, Sr., 85, husband of Gwen Huckaby Longshore, died Saturday, January 10, 2015.
Born September 26, 1929 in Newberry, SC, Ralph was a son of the late Oscar Bradhom Longshore, Sr. and Maude Floyd Longshore. He honorably served his country in the US Air Force and retired after 23 years of service. During that time, he guarded Air Force One for 10 years. Ralph also served on the ABC Commission in South Carolina for 26 years. In addition, he worked closely with the Spartanburg County Sherriff's Department, City Police, and Highway Patrol. Ralph was a Mason and Shriner and enjoyed fishing, golf, and serving as a Mobile Meals volunteer. He was a member of Lewis Methodist Church in Newberry, SC. Ralph will be forever remembered as a loving and devoted husband and father.
In addition to his wife of 60 years, Ralph is survived by his sons, Ralph Longshore, Jr. and his wife, Doyla, Brad Longshore and his wife, Tammie, and Dan Longshore and his wife, Amy; grandchildren, Ralph Longshore, III, Shannon Longshore, Celeste Longshore, and Langston Longshore; step grandchildren, Andy Clark and his wife, Miranda, and Kelly Clark Cisewski and her husband, Bryan; seven great grandchildren; many loved nieces and nephews; and his dear friend, Lou Parris.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 13th, 6:00-8:00 PM at Dunbar Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 14th, 1:00 PM at Dunbar Funeral Home, officiated by Reverend Dr. Tim Williams, Reverend Dr. Ondra Black, and Reverend Carrol Caldwell.
Burial will be held in Heritage Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Rd, Greenville, SC 29605 or Roebuck Baptist Church, P O Box 490, Roebuck, SC 29376.

Mike and I haven't seen you in a few years, but we still remember the good times we had at Lake Greenwood and the week we all spent at Hilton Head. Danny and Mary were teenagers. Ralph was a good man and a good friend and we have great memories of all those weekends at the lake. Please know you and the boys are in our prayers during this time. Love you Gwen. Jerry and I are so sad to hear of Ralph's passing. I know you miss him so much. We can all be grateful for the beautiful legacy he has left you: his deep love for all of you, his enthusiasm for life, the joy he had in calling Gwen his wife, and the pride he had in his sons. God has healed Ralph now, and I pray that His comfort will be so very real to all of you in the coming days.

My heart is so heavy for you today. I am praying for all of you - that God will be with you in undeniable ways bringing you His peace, His strength, and His comfort.
I am so thankful that God brought Mr. Longshore into my life. He taught me to fish, to waterboard, to catch crabs, to just have fun times as a family. He was an incredible husband, father, and friend. He made every day a day to be filled with love, stories, and laughter. His commitment to his family was shown in the time he spent with them, in the hugs he graciously shared, and in the words of love and support that he shared with them.
I am so thankful for his life, and I will never forget him.

It's so hard to say goodbye. I loved talking to Uncle Ralph and hearing the smile in his voice over the phone. It was so great to remember things from long ago with him...His kindness and remembrances will stay with me always.
