RICHLAND - Anna Ruth (Lloyd) Hornback passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013.Â She was born Nov. 7, 1921, to Damon E. and Helen B. Lloyd in Richland.
She graduated from Luce Township schools, and obtained her bachelor's degree in home economics and family science from Indiana State University.Â Anna Ruth also completed her master's degree in education at Northern Illinois University.
Anna Ruth married Edgar C. Hornback while he was serving in World War II
and they would raise three children, Sally, Curtis and Sara.Â She had a successful teaching career spanning several decades, teaching home economics, biology and music.Â She also managed the school lunch program and was active in many 4-H programs.
Anna Ruth was an active community volunteer and rose to the position of Worthy Matron in the Libertyville, Ill., chapter of Eastern Star. She was always a teacher and enjoyed sharing her knowledge of nature with all who would listen.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Lloyd; her husband, Edgar Hornback; a daughter, Sara J. Bachmann, and her parents, Damon E. Lloyd and Helen Dawson Lloyd.
She will be remembered by her children, Sally Allen and her husband, Kevin of Noblesville and Curtis Hornback and his wife, Sandy, of Durant, Okla.; a son-in-law, Kris Bachmann of Spencerville; a granddaughter, Melissa (Shawn) Karmil of Everett, Wash.; grandsons Jake Hornback (Emily Rich-ardson) of Durant and Bronson Bachmann of Spencerville and her great-granddaughters, Lily and Calliope Jones. She will also be missed by friends in many states.
Services were conducted Wednesday, June 19, at the Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport. Pastor Carl Jones officiated. Burial was in Hackleman Cemetery in Chrisney.
