James C. "Jim" Raaf, 88, of Grandview, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, at the Linda E. White Hospice House of Evansville.
Jim was born in Spencer County, Indiana on April 7, 1930, to the late Charles D. Raaf and Alma (Lamar) Raaf.
Jim served in the United States Air Force for nine years. He was a member of the Grandview United Methodist Church. He retired from National Southwire Aluminum after 20 years of service. Jim loved sports, especially IU Basketball, the Indianapolis Colts and the Atlanta Braves. He enjoyed being outdoors near the river and spending time with his dog, Annie.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Charlene (Raaf) Young and Ellen Gayle (Raaf) Janes and a son-in-law, Raymond Pfeifer.
Jim is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Jean Raaf of Grandview; his children, David Raaf and his wife, Roxi of Boerne, Texas; Laura Anne Pfeifer of Chrisney; his grandchildren, Shannon Perkins and her husband, Terry; Bethany LeVrier and her husband, Bradley; Micah Raaf; Philip Raaf; Ryan Pfeifer and his wife, Amanda; Cody Pfeifer; great-grandchildren, Chloe Wilkinson, Shelby Wilkinson, Kinley Pfeifer, Jacelyn Pfeifer, Katie Perkins, and Zane Perkins.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery in Newtonville. The United States Air Force and the Rockport American Legion will provide military honors.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, and from 8 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
