CHANDLER – Josephine Dazey, 89, of Chandler, passed away at 2:02 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2018, at home.
Josephine was born to Levi and Viola (Adams) Joseph on Dec. 10, 1928, in Premium, Ky., where she lived until she married Russell Dazey on Dec. 20, 1947. For the first five years after marrying Russell, Josephine lived on a farm near Union Star, Mo., where she was an active member of Flag Springs Baptist Church.
For the rest of her years, Josephine lived in Kentucky and Indiana.
Josephine served in many roles over the years, including Sunday school and vacation Bible school teacher at Raikes Hill Baptist Church, Patesville Baptist Church, New Hope Baptist Church and New Haven Baptist Church. She was most recently a member of Creekside Baptist Church.
Josephine was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She served the Lord as a faithful pastor's wife and was a great help to her husband.
Josephine is survived by sons, Richard Dazey (Deanna) of Winchester, Ky., and David Dazey (Carol) of Chandler; her daughters, Karen Temple (Greg) of Bloomington and Debera Witty (Charlie) of Lebanon, Ill; a twin sister, Maggie Joseph of Premium, Ky.; a sister, Mary Tyree of Whitesburg, Ky.; a brother, Everett Joseph of Premium, Ky.; her grandchildren, Matthew Temple (Kristina) of Ellettsville, Sarah Bayne (Bill) of Gosport, Cynthia Allen (Gary) of West Row, England, Pamela Meadows (Derrick) of Winchester, Ky., Mark Dazey (Kari) of Shelbyville, Ky., Beth Young (Tim) of Chandler, Nathan Dazey (Rachel) of Chandler, Shannon Witty (Art) of Eureka, Mo., and Dustin Witty, of Lebanon, Ill; and great grandchildren, Garrison, Dyanna, Samantha, Charlotte, Madelyn, Carter, Hayden, Madison, Kara, Miley, Kaden, Connor, Caitlyn, Harper, Alexandria, Paige and Isaac.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband of 68 years, Russell.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 6, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Ave., with Pastor Jack Neighbors officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Newburgh.
Friends could visit Tuesday, June 5, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
