DALE – Russel Hubert Wahl,78, of Dale died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper.
He was born Nov. 4, 1938. He was the youngest of nine children born to Ben and Ruth Wahl. He graduated from Selvin High School in 1956 and afterward served in the Army Reserves, where he learned to hate flying. On Jan. 25, 1964, he married Linda Lou Kleeman and together they had four children. Russ was a singer, guitar player, farmer and retired from Whirlpool in Evansville.
He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, friends and church family.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda, his children Tim (Rita) Wahl of Dale, Todd Wahl of Chandler, Melissa (Gary) Davis of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Michelle Wahl of Plano, Texas. Also surviving are three granddaughters Kristen Davis, Brittney and Elizabeth Wahl; a brother Leo Wahl of Ferdinand and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Albert, Carl, Bernie and Andrew Wahl, and three sisters Catherine (Ray) Memmer, Mary (Talbert) Tormohlen and Mildred (Robert) Memmer
A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for Monday Sept 25, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish - St. Joseph Church, with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery in Dale.
Visitation will be Sunday Sept 24, from 3 to 7 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish - St. Joseph Church in Dale, and Monday from 9 a.m. to service time.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Parish - St. Joseph Church, or the Lange Fuhs Cancer Center.
