ROCKPORT - Dorothy Marie Scherer Freschly, 94, of Rockport went home to be with the Lord Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Miller's Merry Manor in Rockport.

Dorothy was born Feb. 3, 1919, to the late Lusher and Fannie (Stuteville) Kellems.
She lived on her home place all of her life. She had worked cleaning houses and at Supplies Commodity and Tresslar's.
On the farm, she would get up early to feed the animals and milk the cows. She loved all animals, especially her dogs, cats and ducks.
She was a member of Bloomfield Wesley Chapel Church and the Farm Bureau.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Scherer; her stepson, James D. Scherer; and her second husband, Charles Freschly.
Dorothy is survived by her stepgrandchildren, Ken Scherer and his wife, Carolyn of Georgia and David Scherer and his wife, Melissa of Tennessee; her stepgreat-grandchildren, Nathan Scherer and Megan Scherer; her extended family and many friends who loved her.
Services were conducted Wednesday, April 24, at the Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport. Pastor Mike Turner officiated. Burial was in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Rockport.
