Mr. Leonard Davenport Rogers

Mr. Leonard Davenport Rogers, 82, passed away June 26, 2013 at Crestview Nursing Home in Shelbyville.
He was the son of the late Vaughn and Josephine Tapp Rogers. He was born in Spencer County.
He was a retired butcher for Armour Packing in Louisville. He was an Army veteran and member of the Harrods Creek Masonic Lodge and the Elk Creek Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary Helen Rogers.
He is survived by his daughters, Cindy (Paul) Long of Shelbyville and Michelle (Robert) Blair of Louisville;
one sister, Doris Jean (Joe) Lamkin of Daytona Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services were Saturday, June 29 at the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville with Sister Marie Lutes officiating. Burial followed in the Elk Creek Baptist Church Cemetery where full military honors were provided by the Marion County Honor Guard, including folding and presentation of the American Flag, the playing of taps and a 21-gun salute.
The family requested memorial contributions be made to the Kosair Children's Hospital.
Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home of Taylorsville was in charge of arrangements.
