Mathis Wilbur Rogers

Mr. Mathis Wilbur Rogers passed from this life March 28, 2013, at Signature Healthcare of Taylorsville at the age of 94.
He was a farmer and lifelong resident of Spencer County. He was an active member of the Briar Ridge Christian Church. He served many roles in his church including church treasurer, elder and cemetery sexton for many years.
Wilbur married Pauline McClain on Dec. 18, 1944, in Jefferson County. They were married for 68 years.
Wilbur and Pauline lived on and farmed the Rogers Family Farm on Beech Creek until the Taylorsville Lake was created. The family farm now lies underwater surrounding the current Settlers Trace boat dock. They relocated on a farm at Little Mount. The move included moving their home and many of the buildings located on the old home place.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mathis and Lena Belle Cunningham Rogers; a sister, Christine Rogers; a brother, Floyd Rogers; and his son-in-law, James Mardis.
Wilbur leaves behind his wife, Pauline, of 68 years; four daughters, Sue Walls and her husband, J.B., of Little Mount, Nadine Jarvis and her husband, Russ, of Wilkinson, Ind., Gale Morris and her husband, Jerry, of Ashland, and Kim Mardis of Elizabethtown; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchilden.
Services: April 1, 2013, at the Briar Ridge Christian Church with Bro. Lonnie McNabb and Bro. Eugene Neyhart officiating. Burial: Briar Ridge Christian Church Cemetery.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the church.
