Murray U. Collins

A Chaplin resident, Mr. Murray U. Collins, 93, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 in Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown.
He was a native of Norfolk, Va., a retired service man with 20 years of service, having served seven years in the U.S. Navy and 13 years in the Army. He also served as a dietician for Morrison's Cafeteria and had been a salesman for Corvin's Furniture in Bardstown. He was a member of the Bardstown Sr. Citizens, the Chaplin Baptist Church and a Mason.
He was the son of the late John R. and Mattie Hollingsworth Collins and was preceded in death by three brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Keeling Collins; three step-daughters Sharon Thompson and her husband, Stevie, of Bloomfield, Sheila Curtsinger and her husband, Terry, of Willisburg, and Angie Lobb and her husband, John, of Jacksonville, Fla.; four adopted children, Jessica, Shawn, Karen and Leslie Collins, all of Chaplin; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation: 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Services: 1 p.m. Friday, May 3, at Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Bro. Gene Dowell, Bro. Heath Woolman and Bro. Marvin Redmon officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Highland Memory Gardens in Mount Washington.
