Carrie Ashby Jewell, 90, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Green Meadows Health Care Center in Mount Washington.

Born in Spencer County, on March 6, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Robert Francis and Annie Elizabeth Snider Ashby, and the widow of Elva Cornelious Jewell.
A member of the Spencer Christian Church at Elk Creek, she was a homemaker and personal caregiver. Her hobbies included reading.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Donald C. Jewell, her granddaughter, Casie Sweatt, her brother, Amos Matthew Snider Ashby, and her sisters, Helen Powell, Margaret Seay and Mary Naomi Ashby.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, her survivors include her sons, Glenn Snider Jewell of Louisville, and David Allen Jewell and his wife, Joyce, of Taylorsville; her daughters, April Devone Logsdon and her husband, Roger, of Shelbyville, and Yolanda Gay Sweatt and her husband, Larry, of Fairfield; her daughter-in-law, Donna Jewell of Bowling Green; her sisters, Roberta Cheatham, Lyda Davies, Barbara Bridwell and Dorothy Rodgers all of Louisville, and Elizabeth Bentley of Taylorsville; and her seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services: Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 1:30 p.m. at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Taylorsville with the Rev. Doug Martin officiating. Interment: Highland Memory Gardens in Mount Washington.
