Daphna Peach Noel, 69, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at Signature Healthcare of Spencer County. Born in Spencer County, she was the daughter of the late Earnest Edgar and Anna Ethel Searcy Peach, and the widow of Gerald Ray Noel.
A member of the First Baptist Church of Taylorsville, Daphna was a vital member of the music program including her service as organist for 45 years and her singing in the choir, and the Ladies Trio and as a soloist. She taught Sunday School, was a member of the Women's Missionary Union, and a dedicated member of the hospitality committee where she expressed her love of cooking and serving others.
Daphna loved to entertain and was an excellent cook and hostess. When asked how she did it, she responded that "it came easy to her," and she made it all to appear effortless. She loved collecting cookbooks, reading, traveling and working in her beautiful flowers, but most especially, spending time with her family and friends.
After graduating from Bloomfield High School in Nelson County, and after she and Gerald were married, she began a career at the Skaggs Clinic in Taylorsville that spanned 37 years. Her profession included nursing and working both as an x-ray technician and a lab technician. She was especially dedicated in assisting Dr. M. H. Skaggs and his son, Dr. William K. Skaggs in delivering many babies in Spencer County. She also worked alongside the third generation of Skaggs physicians, Dr. Martin Skaggs. Daphna was a former member of the Taylorsville Business and Professional Women's Club and a well respected member of her community.
Survivors include by her son, Scott Noel and his wife, Michelle, of Finchville; her grandchildren, Shelbie and Brennan Noel, also of Finchville; her brother, Bobby Peach and his wife, Connie, of Peru, Ind.; and her sister, Margaret O'Conner and her husband, George, of Nashville.
Services: 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at the First Baptist Church of Taylorsville with the Rev. Gary Mills and the Rev. Ben McNees officiating. Interment was in Valley Cemetery.
