A Louisville resident, Mr. David Leon Bennett, age 79, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018, in Baptist Health in Louisville. He was born February 16, 1938, in Spencer County to the late Carl Ross and Roberta Louise Herndon Bennett. David was a former employee of Armour Food Co. in Butchertown, was a member of Taylorsville Church of God of Prophecy and attended Highview Baptist Church in Louisville.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Allen Bennett; sisters, Lena Greer and Carrie Reed; and a brother, Carl Ross Bennett Jr.
He is survived by his son, Anthony Harland-Bennett of Goshen; sisters, Katherine Bennett of Madisonville, KY, Karlene B. Nickel, who was also his nurse and caregiver, and Bonnie Klempner, both of Louisville; brother, Robert Bruce Bennett of Louisville; granddaughter, Amber Harland-Bennett of Goshen; and the mother of his sons, Judy Bennett of Louisville.
Funeral services for Mr. David Leon Bennett were held at 2 p.m., Friday, January 26, 2018, at Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville. Bro. Mike Willingham officiated. Interment was in Valley Cemetery.
Visitation was Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. and Friday after 11 a.m. until time of funeral service. The Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home of Taylorsville was in charge of arrangements.
