A Taylorsville resident, Mrs. Elizabeth Cordelia Martin, age 101, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018, in Signature Healthcare of Spencer County. She was born November 1, 1916, in Nelson County to the late Felix and Margaret Simms Ball. Mrs. Martin was a retired school teacher in Spencer County where she taught third grade for 27 years, and was a member of All Saints Catholic Church.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond T. Martin; and granddaughter, Stacey Martin.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann Lindle (Mike) Simpson of Taylorsville; sons, James Theodore "Jim" (Beverly Kaye) Martin of Sulphur, LA., Jerry (Jamie) Martin, Bud (Cheryl) Martin, both of San Antonio, TX., Steve (Susan) Martin of Taylorsville, Bill (Therese) Martin of Waddy; sisters, Anna Rita Pemberton of Louisville, Winifred (Paul) Drnec of California; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Elizabeth Cordelia Martin will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2018, at the All Saints Catholic Church in Taylorsville. Rev. Johnny Johnson will celebrate. Interment will be in Valley Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday from 3 - 8 p.m. at the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville. A prayer service will be Thursday evening at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contribution to . The Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home of Taylorsville is in charge of arrangements.
