James Berman McKinley, 78, of Taylorsville, died on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at Signature Healthcare in Taylorsville. Born in Spencer County, he was the son of the late Harry McKinley, Sr., and Ruby Mae Gordon McKinley, and the widower of Stella Robinson McKinley.

Always willing to witness and share his faith with others, he was a member of the Plum Creek Baptist Church at Waterford, where he served as a greeter for over fifteen years. He was a farmer and former employee of the Chase Barlow Lumber Company. Gardening, hunting, fishing, playing cornhole and horseshoes, Rook, and other card games were his favorite hobbies. One of his greatest enjoyments and pastimes was talking and visiting with his friends and family, and he was a volunteer for several years at the Valley View, now Signature Healthcare in Taylorsville. He was also an enthusiastic UK Wildcat fan.

His survivors include his son, Jason McKinley and his wife, Brandy, of Taylorsville; stepson, Danny Joe Hardin and his wife, Debbie, also of Taylorsville; sisters, Myrtle Yates of Shelbyville and Dorothy Gray of Mount Washington; and grandchildren, Heather Hardin and Ashley Hardin.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 8, 2018, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Taylorsville, with Reverend Jon Rohr officiating. Interment will be in Valley Cemetery in Taylorsville.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m., until 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Taylorsville. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Plum Creek Baptist Church.
