Lorena 'Sissy' Moran, 94, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at Christopher East Nursing Facility in Louisville.
Born in Spencer County, she was the daughter of the late Volley and Annie Watson Moran. She was the oldest member of Second Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, and had formerly served on the kitchen committee and been chairman of Women's Day services. Devoted to her church, she always decorated the sanctuary for Easter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, James W. Moran, and her grandsons, Steven Moran and James Carey Moran.
Survivors include her son, Donald R. Moran and his wife, Peggy, of Louisville; her daughter, Shirley Jean Allison, also of Louisville; her five grandchildren, her nine great great-grandchildren, and her 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at the Second Baptist Church of Taylorsville with the Rev. Dr. Charles E. Burton Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Valley Cemetery.
The wake will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Second Baptist. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Second Baptist Church. The Hall-Taylor Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements and online condolences may be expressed at www.halltaylorfuneralhomes.com.
