Mrs. Lula Edna Derry, 90, of Taylorsville, passed away on Oct. 12, 2013, at Glen Ridge Health Campus in Louisville.
She was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Elizabeth Belinda Hilbert Ingram. Born in Spencer County, she was a former employee of General Electric and retired after 30 years of service.
She was a member of Taylorsville First Baptist Church for 73 years, where she served as president of the Winsome Sunday school class and also taught Sunday school in the junior department. She was actively involved in the church WMU and enjoyed being a part of the church ministry. She was one of the oldest members of the church.
She was married to her first husband, Dell Stucker, for 15 years and to that union leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, Larry Stucker (Sherry) of Louisville and Billy Stucker (Sherrill) of Louisville. After his passing, she then married Howard Derry. She and Howard were married 48 years. To that union, she leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Kathy Derry Day of Louisville and a stepson, Russell Derry (Laverne) of Crown Point, Ind. Seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands, as well as her siblings, Pearl Houghlin, Hallie Osbourne, Lydia McKinley and Bud Ingram. According to family records, siblings Milton Robert Ingram, Artie Francis and Christine Ingram passed away in 1919.
She leaves behind a loving family, a precious church family, and friends as well. In her letter of final requests to her family, she leaves this thought: "What a wonderful time and happy day that will be when we all meet again in heaven."
Visitation: Oct. 13 from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville and Oct. 14 from 9 to 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church.
Services: Oct. 14 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Bro. Gary Mills officiating. Interment: Big Springs Cemetery in Bloomfield.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Taylorsville First Baptist Church.
