Verlie Mae Thomas, 91, of Taylorsville, passed away Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at Signature Healthcare of Taylorsville.
She was the former Verlie Mattingly and a native of Nelson County. She was a member of Fisherville Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph Mansfield and Louella Curtsinger Mattingly and was preceded in death by her husband, Marion "Buck" Thomas; a daughter, Ella Katherine Haines; a son, Harold Wayne Thomas; and two brothers, Daniel and Hays Mattingly
She is survived by two sons, David Thomas (Nancy) of Taylorsville and Jerry Thomas (Cindy) of Louisville; three sisters, Margaret McClain, Dolly Richardson and Delcie Humes, all of Taylorsville; two brothers, Paul Mattingly of Fisherville and Raymond Floyd Mattingly of Louisville; eight grandchilren; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation: Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville.
Services: Thursday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Bro. Brian Payne officiating. Burial: Big Spring Cemetery.
