Mrs. Viola Elizabeth Rogers, age 84, passed away August 6, 2014 at Baptist Healthcare in Louisville surrounded by her loving family. Born the daughter of the late Willie Van and Letitia Maddox Washburn in Spencer County. She was a former employee of Pine Tree Villa Nursing Home and was a member of the Plum Creek Baptist Church and resident of Signature Healthcare in Taylorsville.
Mrs. Rogers is survived by her daughters Glenna Grider, and Betty Kelly both of Taylorsville; son Jimmie Rogers (Linda) of Taylorsville; and daughter-in-law Kay Waldridge of Taylorsville; sisters Aretta Rogers of Taylorsville and Mamie Jump of Louisville; brothers G.W. Washburn and Charles (Darvil) Washburn also of Taylorsville; six grandchildren, 12 great-Grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband David Leo Rogers, her son David Rogers, and two grandsons Kevin Grider and Scott Kelly.
Visitation for Mrs. Viola Rogers was August 8, and 9, 2014 at the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home of Taylorsville with Chaplain Suzanne Priddy officiating. Burial was in Valley Cemetery in Taylorsville.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Foundation. Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
