Tony JULIANO Obituary

JULIANO, Tony (Age 91) Entered into rest on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at his home. He was a lifetime resident of Spokane. Tony was born to Carmelo and Chiara Giuliano on November 12, 1921. He attended Sheridan Elementary, Libby Junior High, and graduated from Rogers High School in January 1940. In April 1940 he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served his nation for eight years. He saw action in three major invasions; Peleliu, Leyte and Okinawa with the Pacific fleet and was awarded two purple hearts. While in the Navy he met Dorothy. They were married and had three sons. After being honorably discharged from the Navy he began working with the Washington State Department of Transportation. At first he worked in maintenance but soon found himself working as a mechanic in the shop at District 6 (Spokane Division). Tony worked for the DOT for 35 years and by retirement was the shop foreman. He retired from the DOT in December 1983. After retirement and after successfully raising three sons, Tony and Dorothy moved to the valley to live out the rest of their lives. Tony was a superior mechanic and constantly worked on cars and trucks for his friends and family. He was the "go to" man on anything mechanical. Tony loved riding his tractor, plowing snow in the winter, tilling gardens in the spring or mowing fields in the summer. He loved watching WWE wrestling, TV game shows and sports television. He was an avid fan of the Mariners, the Seahawks and GU basketball. Tony was a former member of the BOF, the Eagles and a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1435. He was preceded in death by his parents Carmelo and Chiara Giuliano, wife Dorothy, sister Mary Mazulo and brother Joe Juliano. He is survived by sons Jerold, Tony and Douglas (Linda), sister Angie Pirello, grandchildren Lisa (Bryan) Rhodes, Paul (Amber) Juliano and Adam (Pam) Juliano, and great-grandchildren Lauren and Lindsey Rhodes, Gavin and Ava Juliano and Hailey Juliano. Viewing will be held on Thursday, March 21, from 2:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, March 22, 2013 at Heritage Chapel. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions in Tony's name to Ronald McDonald House Charities, 1015 W. 5th Ave., Spokane, WA, Union Gospel Mission, 1224 E. Trent Ave., Spokane, WA 99202 or the Salvation Army, 2222 E. Indiana Ave., Spokane, WA 99207 or a charity of your choice.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Juliano Family. Tony was a sweet, kind man, and we feel blessed to have known him. Everytime we look out our window onto his son's yard, we will hold close the image of Tony riding the tracker with a happy smile on his face.
