KALLES, Craig E. September 5, 1949 - November 9, 2013 Craig E. Kalles, born September 5, 1949, in Spokane, WA. to Jerri and Larry Kalles, Sr. passed away November 9, 2013 in Spokane. Right after graduating from Shadle Park High School in Spokane, Craig was involved in a car accident that left him paralyzed as a paraplegic. However, Craig was determined to go on in life and became an active brother in the church life in Seattle. While there, he fell in love with and married Sue Hollcraft, his wife of 37 years. Craig worked as a communications 911 Dispatcher for the Spokane Police Department. He also worked in communications for the University of WA and for Boeing. Craig was loved by all around him, and is known as ~ a Warrior, ~ a Sufferer, ~ an Heir of Christ, ~ an Enjoyer and Lover of Christ, ~ a Lover of Men, ~ a Protector. Besides all these, Craig was a vitally and spiritually organic Husband, Brother, Uncle, Son, Son in-Law, Uncle in-Law, Brother in-Law, "Teacher", Shepherd, Friend, Builder and Member of the Body of Christ, and a Very Special Patient. Craig went on to Glory before his loving wife Susan (Sue); his faithful sister Karen Simon, her husband Chris and their children Megan, Timothy, and Amy; and his caring brother Larry, his wife Kathy, and their son Jeffery. In addition to his immediate family, Craig has numerous wonderful nieces and nephews and friends. Craig was loved by all and will be missed every day. The last 5 ½ years of his life Craig was bedridden, and our home was blessed by heavenly traffic from so many who enjoyed being with Craig. Thank you to all who so richly cared for him. There will be visitation for family and friends on Saturday, November 16, 2013 from 10:00am to 5:00pm. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, November 17, 2013 3:00pm at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home. The interment will be Monday, November 18th 11:00am at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Craig was a good friend in high school. We were members of same club, the infamous Chi Rho Phi. I met my wife Connie for the first time when Craig brought her as his date to a barn dance our club was putting on. I still remember going to the hospital after his accident. Like most of his friends, we were devastated. But Craig made us feel better and I never heard him complain. Out of the Army and married we lived in the apartment above he and Jon at Eastern. We had many great times together; dinners, going to the lake. May God hold him close and bless his family.

I started school with Craig at Ridgeview. We saw each other a lot at the monkey bars. I noticed Connie Lawson on here and she lived right by us too. I so admired Craig fo his courage after the accident. I last saw him at our class reunion. I'm so sorry for you loss. What a great guy!

Craig was a neighbor for 9 years, and a friend for over 15 years. He was a great friend, mentor, and shared in all the good times in our life. He supported me in all that I did, which helped me to grow into the person I am today. I am thankful that I could have Craig as a friend. Craig and his family always have my love.
