NELSON, Shelley Jeanne - Spokane  
NELSON, Shelley Jeanne Shelley Jeanne Nelson went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ and loved ones on Sunday, April 17, 2016. Shelley was born on June 1, 1971 in Omak, WA to Janice Evarts and Ken Nelson. She resided in Spokane, WA with her mother Janice and siblings Kelli Jo Nelson and Douglas John Nelson. At age 19 Shelley was diagnosed with M.S. and her journey began. Shelley met Tom Hallbrook at her job detailing at Mister Magic. Shelley and Tom had a beautiful son Thomas Martin Hallbrook. Even though Shelley battled M.S. for 25 years, you would never have known it. She was a strong person, a loving mother, and a wonderful daughter. Shelley had a contagious personality and lived life to the fullest. Shelley will be missed deeply. Shelley is survived by her son Tom, his wife Brittney and their daughter Nevaeh; her mother, father and stepmother, Joci; three brothers, Doug, Kaelan, and Cody Nelson; Cody's wife Janelle and children Aubree Rose and Grace Kelly; as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Shelley rests in peace with her sister Kelli Jo; grandfathers John Truitt and Kelly Nelson; uncles John Truitt, Jr., Don Truitt, and Allen Rose; Aunt Diane Armstrong; and her cousin Cain Bentley. A memorial service will be held at 11:30am on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Sunset Chapel, Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley. A family potluck will follow. NEWBURN, Eunice Anne - Spokane  
NEWBURN, Eunice Anne Eunice Anne Smith Newburn, 79, of Charlotte, NC passed away April 24, 2016. Eunice was born November 5, 1936 in Coulee City, WA to the late Eugene and Edith Smart Smith. She was raised in Spokane, WA and served in the U.S. Navy for three years. While serving at Parris Island, SC, she met her husband, the late, William Toulman Newburn, Sr. Eunice was a member of Order of the Eastern Star and Red Hat Society. She was known for her quick wit and beautiful smile. Eunice is survived by her loving family; daughters, Kathy Walker (George), Julie Bellisle (Huey), Amie Griffith (Jim); sons, William "Buddy" Toulman Newburn, Jr, (Suzette), David Newburn (Trish McClellion), Norman Newburn; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and sister, Vivian Johnson. A memorial service will be held at Salisbury National Cemetery, NC on July 11, 2016 (tentative). Special thanks to the staff of Olds Knox Commons, Huntersville, for her care the past three years. NEWCOMB, Betty Lou - Spokane  
NEWCOMB, Betty Lou (Age 86) She was born February 2, 1930 to Rome and Minnie Jones in Perry, Arkansas. And she died Thursday April 21, 2016. She spent her school years in Arkansas and California. She came to Spokane, Washington in May of 1946 from San Francisco California. She returned to Arkansas and married her high school sweetheart. They moved back to Spokane, Washington in 1950. She worked for Sears for eleven years and was the manager of the fashion department. Then she and her husband bought a grocery store at Napa and Mission and named it, "George's Thrift Store". Later they also had a supermarket in Sandpoint, Idaho with the same name. In 1986 she moved back to Fresno, California and worked for Glendale Federal bank as a senior customer service officer until she retired nine years later. She then returned to Spokane, Washington to a home she had there. Because she had worked all her life, she took a fun job as a hostess at Arby's and loved every minute. She enjoyed being with people. Her oldest son, Dennis Wayne, preceded her in death. Three sisters, Midge Adams and Dorothy Schempre of Fresno, CA, and Barbara House of Jackson, Mississippi survive her. Numerous nephews and nieces; two wonderful sons and their wives: Terry and Carol Newcomb, and Dana and Debbie Newcomb; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren also survive her. She felt she was a very fortunate person to have the family and good friends that she had. Viewing will be held at Heritage Funeral Home April 25 and 26 from 10:00 to 5:00. Graveside Service will be held at Greenwood Memorial Terrace on April 27, at 11:00 AM.
