Born October 23, 1932 in Hauser Lake, Idaho the only child of Lewis and Thelma Box, Barbara passed away surrounded by family on her 79th birthday October 23, 2011 in Grand Coulee, Washington following an extended illness. She was raised in Coulee City and Grand Coulee where she received her high school diploma. Barbara earned her BA degree in Education from E.W.U, Barbara loved teaching 3rd and 4th graders in the Grand Coulee School District from 1969 to 1990. On August 28, 1971 Barbara married childhood friend and high school sweetheart, Pat Holbert at Coeur D'Alene, Idaho's Hitch'n Post. Barbara enjoyed writing, particularly children's books, playing bingo at the Grand Coulee Moose and Eagle Clubs, was passionate about researching Native American Culture and Artifacts, but her great love was spending her life with Pat raising their family. Preceded in death by her parents, Barbara's legacy lives on through her beloved husband of 40 years: Pat; children: Kerry Berg, Steven Berg, Darla Sowl, Marcy Williams (Bill), Bruce Holbert (Holly), Jeff Holbert (Karen) and Kelly Holbert (Audrey); grandchildren: Cory, Patrick, Hanna, Natalie, Jackson, Luke, Samantha, Peyton and Blaine and two great-grandchildren: Antonio and Vanessa. A graveside celebration of Barbara's life will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, October 25, 2011 at Grand Coulee, Washington's, Spring Canyon Cemetery. Her family requests that in lieu of gifts, friends may make donations in Barbara's name to the Grand Coulee School District's "Our Schools, Their Future" effort to improve the quality of education to area students for years to come at http://gcdnewschool.com/if-you-would-like-to-help/.
