Carl C. Bushue(06/03/1925 - 06/24/2011)


Carl C. Bushue was born June 3, 1925 in Mason, Illinois, son of Flossie and Arthur Bushue, one of six brothers and two sisters, and passed away June 24, 2011 in Spokane, Washington. Carl served in the U.S. Navy as a seaman first class in the South Pacific and was awarded three medals of Honor. After the conclusion of the war he eventually relocated to Spokane in 1948 where he worked as a Union Machinist and journeyman welder, belonging to the International association of Machinists and aerospace workers, finally retiring in 1987. Carl with his wife built and operated Smokey Trail Camp Ground and RV Park, west of Spokane from 1959 through 1993. Carl was an avid hunter and fisherman. As a hunter, had a reputation of being "One shot Bush" with his featherweight 30-06 and he left the lake very few times without his limit. Carl married his wife Mary on October 25th 1947 in Bell Garden, CA and moved to Spokane 1948. Carl and his wife were members of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for 63 years. Carl built their house of present residence starting in 1948. After his retirement in 1987 they traveled extensively with trips to Australia, Alaska and other parts of the US. Carl is survived by Mary his wife of 63 years; sister Alta of Sligo, PA; brother Richard Rankin, IL; daughters Mary Ann of Tucumcari, NM; Lauren of Charlotte Court House, VA; Patricia of Davenport, WA and son Michael of Belmont, CA; eight grandchildren, and 15 great- grandchildren. A Rosary Service will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Spokane, WA. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 1, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi, Spokane, WA with Rev. Blackburn, officiating. Concluding services and Military Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. on July 1, 2011 at Mt View Cemetery, Davenport, WA. Memorials may be made to the Poor Claires Monestary, 4419 N.
