Dale Arthur BAILEY Sr.

BAILEY, Sr. Dale Arthur (Age 81) Dale entered into this world on January 8, 1932 in Minot, North Dakota; entered into rest June 24, 2013. Dale was the second of eight children born to Richard and Hazel Bailey. In 1941, the family moved from Minot to Spokane. When he was 17, Dale was severely injured when he pulled his younger brother, Marlin out of the way of a hay wagon pulled by a team of horses. He was considered a hero by The Valley Herald. Dale entered into the United States Marine Corps in 1950 and served in the Korean War as a heavy equipment mechanic. In 1956, he married his wife Janette, and had four children of their own. He spent several years as an over-the-road truck driver, hauling produce up and down the western U.S. In 1972, he started working for Inland Asphalt, retiring after 24 years in 1996. He was a life member of the VFW, at one time holding the position of Post Commander, and served on the Post Board. In retirement, he took up wood working and spent his time in the garage working on various projects. Dale also enjoyed camping with family and friends, getting out as often as possible. Anyone who went on those trips knew they were in for a treat. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dale is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Hazel; brothers, Lyle, Duane and Harold; sisters, Donna and Margie; son, Scott and his beloved bulldog Otto. Dale is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janette; daughter, Robin (Mike); sons, Dale Jr. (Pam) and Kevin (Laurie); his granddaughters: Wendy (Nolan), Shannon (Scott) and Lyleann; great-grandchildren Bryce, Grace and Joshua; brothers, Marlin and Gerry (Brenda); and many nieces nephews and friends. His presence will truly be missed. Services will be held at 2pm on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Mirabeau Chapel, 3001 N. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA.
