Darlene F. (Barth) SYMMS-TOLSON

SYMMS-TOLSON, Darlene F. (Barth) Died June 2, 2013, in Arlington, Virginia, after a courageous 2½ year battle with cancer. Born in Mandan, North Dakota on November 23, 1944, Darlene traveled to Spokane, Washington with her parents and brother where she was raised and graduated from Shadle Park High School. Darlene was married to Gary McLaughlin in Spokane, then moved to Seattle where she spent many years living and working as a legal secretary, raising daughters, Heidi and Jennifer, with husband, Steve Symms. Darlene later moved to Virginia and after several years, she met and married Ronnie Tolson. Together they moved to North Carolina where Darlene loved the beach, gardening, reading, and especially crossword puzzles. She also was an avid history buff, and enjoyed watching old time movies. Darlene is joined in heaven with parents, Matt and Rose Barth, brother, Dennis Barth, niece, Michelle Nicole Martin, and brother-in-law, Darold Marcus, along with many members of her extended family. Darlene is survived by her husband, Ronnie Tolson and their two dogs in Jarvisburg, NC, her daughters, Heidi Symms, Gainseville, Virginia and Jennifer Symms, Seattle, Washington, her precious granddaughter, Brittany Clendenny, who attends Boston University, four sisters, Vicki Marcus, Julie Huysman, Michele Gentile, and Theresa Beaudoin, all of Spokane, WA, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, only two nephews, and numerous cousins. Graveside inurnment will be Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Holy Cross Cemetery, Deacon Jack Crandall officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the in Darlene's name. God grant her rest and may we take comfort in knowing that another angel is watching over us.
