Joreen, a 70 year resident of Athol, was born in Livingston, Montana on April 5, 1933 to Joe and Ercel Humphrey. Her family moved to Athol in 1942 where her father, Joe was employed during the construction of the Farragut Naval Training Station. She and Carl went to all basketball, football games, and track meets while their boys attended and graduated from Lakeland High School. She worked hard at making sure that her boys had the cleanest uniforms on the team year after year! She was involved in city of Athol functions, serving as Mayor and Fire Chief at the same time. For many years Joreen was a member of the Kootenai County Planning and Zoning Board where she helped direct the growth of Kootenai County. She worked in area cafes until she built and ran her own café, the Grubstake, for eight years and then sold it. She helped Carl in his excavation business for many years. She will be missed by everyone who knew her, especially her family. A celebration of life service will be announced and held in the spring.
