Nancy F. GUSTIN(05/05/1967 - 05/12/2013)

GUSTIN, Nancy F. Of Harrison, Idaho, beloved mother, wife, daughter and sister, died May 12, 2013 in Spokane, Wash. She was 46. A teacher and traveler, Nancy's greatest joys were her husband, her four wonderful children and her large, loving extended family. Born in Boston, Mass., on May 5, 1967, Nancy was the sixth of eight children of Arthur F. and Ann H. Flaherty, and their first girl. She worked her status as firstborn daughter masterfully, and she was Dad and Mom's favorite (sorry, Tim). Nancy graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Kingston, Mass., in 1986 and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in history from Regis College in 1991. She was one of the first in her family to graduate from college within four years. Nancy took her new degree to the Charlestown Navy Yard in Boston, where she worked as a park ranger interpreter. She returned to school and earned a master's degree in early childhood education from Bridgewater State University. That degree took her to Europe, where she taught at the American School of Luxembourg for two years. Returning home, Nancy taught grade school in Norwell, Mass., until she met her future husband during a trip to Idaho to visit her younger sister. She and Charlie B. Gustin married on June 28th, 1997. Most recently, Nancy worked as director of logistics of Great Bay Energy. She was also a dedicated teacher in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Nancy is survived by her husband Charlie; her loving children Henry Charles, 15, Arthur Thomas, 13, Emma Ann, 11, and Peter Oliver, nine; her mother; her six brothers; and one fantastic sister. She was preceded in death by her father Arthur F. Flaherty (Papa), and very special great-nephew Rhett Thomas Gustin and that 'darn' dog Theo. Visitation will be held at ENGLISH FUNERAL CHAPEL in Coeur d'Alene on Monday May 20th from 4p.m. to 6p.m. with Vigil Services to follow at 6:30p.m. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday May 21st at 11a.m. at St. Thomas at 919 E. Indian Ave., Coeur d'Alene. Burial to follow in Harrison.
