E. Joann SNYDER(05/09/1930 - 01/08/2013)

SNYDER, E. Joann Joann was born May 9, 1930 to George and Elizabeth Bolster. She was raised in Canton, Ohio, and graduated from Western College of Oxford, Ohio. Her first job was working for Battelle Memorial Institute as a research analyst. Next she managed the Washington D.C. office at the Library of Congress for two years. She moved with her husband to Spokane in 1962. Joann's love of Girl Scouts began as a young girl in scouting. She worked for the Inland Empire Girl Scout Council from 1968 -1981. She then worked for Catholic Family Charities until her retirement as Director of Volunteer Chore Ministry. She served the community on numerous boards including Spokane Visiting Nurses, DOVIA, Altrusa, and PED - Prevention, Education & Development. She was an active member of Northwood Presbyterian Church and served on committees for the Presbytery of the Inland Empire. She was elected moderator of the Synod of Alaska/Northwest. She is survived by her brother Bradley Bolster and her daughters and their husbands, Suzanne and Steve Durgan, Patricia and Larry Estell, and Kathryn and Michael Vennum along with her beloved grandchildren Tyler, Sydney, Lauren, Danielle, Andrew and Christopher. She was a woman of God who invested in others and was rewarded richly with friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Northwood Presbyterian Church. A celebration of Joann's life will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at 2 PM at Northwood Presbyterian Church, N. 6721 Monroe, Spokane, WA 99208.
