Elmer Utecht Obituary

UTECHT,
Elmer R. "Tub"
(Age 83)

Passed away March 2, 2011 in Spokane Valley, WA. He was born to William and Pauline (Wahl) Utecht and raised in the Spokane Valley where he attended school in the Central Valley School District. He spent his whole life living within an 11 block radius. He began working for NW Milling Company at the age of 16, eventually becoming its owner and selling in 1973 due to Expo 74. He spent the remainder of his working life in construction while maintaining his truck-farm selling vegetables to local residents and stores. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. His sense of humor and math skills will be greatly missed. Elmer is survived by his four children, Ron Utecht (Eileen), Carla Thurlow (Ron), Rhonda Catalano and Terry Utecht (Jamie); two sisters, Dorothy Campbell and Donna Eastman; nine grandchildren, Kendra, Tina, Eric, Shelly, Jeff, Greg, Bryan, Tiffany and Taylor; 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne (Reopelle) Utecht; daughter, Judy Schmidt; five brothers and a sister. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 7, 2011 at 11:00am at Valley Assembly of God, 15618 East Broadway Avenue. Interment will be at the Pines Cemetery, Spokane Valley. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of his wife and daughters to the Alzheimer's Association NW Chapter, 910 W. 5th Ave., Suite 256, Spokane, WA 99204.
