Mike frequently thinks of you as he does various home repair and upgrade projects. Especially with just remodeling our basement- he always says "Dad would have got a kick out of this". You are so missed

Ray was one the most caring, giving and amazing spirted chefs I knew. He was also the greatest example of what a true friend could be. Although I did not know him his whole life I felt like he was one of those special lifetime friends that you could ask anything of.

As Chef Shockley mentioned, God must have really needed a great man and a great Chef in Heaven to have called on him so early.

Chef Ray, you have and will continue to inspire me to be a better person. We are all so fortunate to have been able to have been a part of your life.

I am very sorry to hear of Ray's passing. Though I did not know him personally - we had corresponded over the past year as he was interested in deploying to Afghanistan. He came highly recommended through a mutual friend. I am so sorry for your loss.

It is the world's loss and God's gain to have this wonderful man pass. He gave so much of himself to his family, his work, and his community. My hope is that his legacy is to have touched people in ways that inspire them to give of themselves in the same way. Peace to his family and friends at this difficult time.

I'm so sorry to hear about Raymond's death. I haven't seen him in years but remember him as a child and young adult. I know he will be missed by family and friends and especially his mother, Beverly. I know, my son Tom died two years ago, the hurt doesn't go away. I'm thinking of you and your family, Bev.
Love, (Aunt) June

From now on, the newspaper will be read face down, front to back. To a most gracious, tolerant, hospitable, friend and best brother-in-law one could have, and just basically a great guy. You will be missed dearly by our family. We will, however, have many, many wonderful memories to cherish forever.

Ray will be extremely missed. I worked under Ray at Harbor Crest until January 2011. He was an amazing man and helped shape me into a better waitress and a better person with his caring and understanding spirit. Ray's memory will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone who worked for him. He was not only a boss but he became a friend to go to with problems we were having both in and out of work.
My condolences go out to the Delfino family.
R.I.P. To an amazing chef, boss and friend

Ray will be sorely missed by so many. On behalf of everyone at Second Harvest, I want to express our heartfelt condolences to the Defino family. Ray helped us time and again to feed hungry people through his work with other area chefs. He will always be one of those generous, kind people that remind me of how good we can be...

Brenda and I offer our prayers to the family for peace and comfort. Over the past 20 years of our interaction, he demonstrated, over and over, what a kind gentleman, leader, teacher, and Chef he was. He was quality with a capital Q, and always kept sight on the desired result. I feel blessed and honored that he called me "friend", and I think I was one of thousands.

What an awesome man! I first met him as an inter with Cancer Patient Care. I was organizing Mostly Merlot. I called him for some help because he was the executive chef at the Spokane Club where the event was to take place. He was so wonderful! I had never planned so much as a birthday party but he made me feel that I could make this event great. His encouragement, reassurance and patience helped give me the confidence that this event was going to be a success. That it was! When starting out in a career, you want someone to acknowledge your potential. He did that for me! I will be forever thankful!

Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are watching over us.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.

You are always in our hearts ~
