Of Newport, WA, Passed away May 11, 2011 at his home in Newport.
Henry was born November 26, 1929 in Missoula, MT the son of Henry Jacob and Marion (Anderson) Rehder. Henry grew up in the Missoula area graduating from Cold Springs Grade School and Missoula High School. He obtained a Master's Degree in Nursing Administration and Education and taught Med Surg Nursing in Great Falls, MT. Henry Married Joanne Sweet in Spokane, WA in 1954. He spent 25 years at Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane as Director of Nursing Services and 4 years as the Patient Care Director at the Newport Community Hospital. Since retiring he has been a volunteer with the Newport Hospital Board, the Crime Victims Board and a CASA Volunteer. For 13.5 years he has built bird houses with kindergarten classes at five regional schools. Recent estimates have Henry building approximately 4000 birdhouses.
Henry is survived by his wife Joanne at their home in Newport, one daughter Suzanne of Vancouver, WA, two granddaughters Amanda of Scappoose, OR, Ashley of Newport, WA and his brother John of Missoula, Montana. He was preceded in death by his son Tim.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, May 14th at 11AM at the Newport Cemetery with a Memorial Service to follow at 1PM at the Dalkena Community Church 425961 Hwy. 20 Newport, WA. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 13th from 10AM-5PM at the Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport.
