Alice Cardone Obituary

CARDONE, Alice Arlene
(Perron)
(Age 85)

A long-time resident of the Spokane area, died peacefully in Selah, WA. Alice was born in 1925 and raised in Cusick, WA. She was the eldest daughter with five younger brothers. She had an extremely difficult childhood, lived in poverty and helped to raise her five siblings. She married Bruno Cardone in 1957 and together they raised their seven daughters in Nine Mile Falls and Spokane. She had a keen talent with the needle and thread and handmade most of her children's clothing, as well as canning much of the family's food she and Bruno grew on the family farm. Her many craft projects and hand-made block quilts were shared with many of us who still treasure them today. She loved finding steals and deals at any yard sale and thrift store she came upon. She recalls having only one doll in childhood. As an adult she collected thousands of dolls and Bruno built her a "doll room" for them. Alice had a sharing and giving heart, often helping various family members in many simple, kind ways. Some of her favorite time was spent with her aunt in their church. She worked for some time at the Veterans' Administration Hospital, then later, she and Bruno, owned and operated their family business at Cedar Village Motel in Spokane.
She is survived by her daughters Anita Robinson, Kathie Cardone, Celia Johnsen, Lynda Turner, Rose Brodrick, Jo Bunney, many grandchildren, great-granchildren, nieces and nephews. She joins her husband, her daughter Louise, and other dear family members, into the presence of our Lord Christ Jesus. We, her family, rejoice in knowing she will hear, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 7th at Heritage Funeral Home.

Our Parents are heros to us all. While going over in my head the lives actually lived by my loved ones I tend to exalt everyone. I am jaded by love and respect. "I clothe thee in the color of my longings". Some people really do have exceptional trates that exalt them amoung thier peers. Trates only measurable at the end of this life. During my life without exception Aunt Alice always did what had to be done. I knew one other person that made a choice to always do what had to be done. It is obvious we have the trate since the person was Aunt Alice's Mother. Well I am thankful for both Gramma and Aunt Alice. I hope to learn from thier examples.

Thankyou Father for all the love and lessons you send in the form of our family. I pray in the name of your Son Jesus to have the strength to use his legacy and those of Hazel and Alice for becoming better in your eyes.
Amen

Alice, we know you are in such a better place but you are soooo very missed every day by your Selah Convalescent family. We speak of you often and treasure the time we had with you~ We can hear your voice now "I want a lemon bar", "Bring me a cookie"! We did try to spoil you and I am so thankful we did! I told you I love you and I am telling you now again. I did not have the opportunity of knowing all of your family but getting to know Kathy and her committment to your care was awesome. No more pain Alice and much peace to you our dear beautiful friend Alice.
