BRINTON,
Devon R. Major,

I just learned of Devon's passing today. I'm deeply saddened by the news. I was his first brother-in-law and he treated me like a kid brother offering me his home and sharing fishing, hunting and skiing trips. I'd long wanted to reconnect and thank him for those times so I deeply regret that opportunity is now past. A large piece of my life's references has past with him. I'd long hoped that I could someday repay him for the trips he took me on by having him join me on my fishing trips on the coast. My deepest sympathies to his loved ones. Too sad.

As Devon's cousin in Denver, I had not made contact with him as an adult until a 2001 visit at his home in Spokane. My wife Florence and I along with our son Alex enjoyed a pleasant afternoon with him and Vicki trying to catch up on things. He was wonderfully hospitable and generously shared many family events and a few old photos with us. We corresponded for a few years afterward, but I have not heard from Devon in the past 5 years. I looked forward to another visit with him soon and was very shocked to learn of his death...so much more to share.
Our sympathy to all the family. I'd especially appreciate hearing from Vicki, his father Bob and his daughter Heather when time has done its healing. Our best to you all.

Devon and I were like brothers. Together with Bill Johns, we hunted fished and played together from the time that we started school at Hamblen Elemenatry. I could tell a thousand stories about our adventures. We built tree forts, models and even hydroplanes. We were the three muskateers. After we all returned from the Army Devon took the lead in organizing occasional lunch get togethers for a group of Hamblen Elementary alumni. Devon was a wonderful friend and schoolmate. I will miss him immeasurably.
My wife, son and I extend our heartfelt sympathy and our prayers to Vickie, his children his grandchildren and his dad, Bob. Walt, Cheryl & Travis Sines

Devon was, indeed, one of the kindest people I have ever known. I will miss seeing him at his dad's house for lunch or on my trips to ACE.
