Shirley Scheeler Obituary

SCHEELER, Shirley C.
(Age 77)

Shirley was born on February 28, 1934 in Vancouver B.C. to Frank and Jenny Phillips. She graduated from nursing school in Vancouver and became a Psychiatric Nurse. On February 16, 1957 she married Richard Scheeler in Lind, WA and moved to Spokane. She continued nursing in Spokane until she was diagnosed with M.S. in the early 1970's. Shirley enjoyed the family lake place at Loon Lake, WA for many years. She also enjoyed reading, birds, crocheting, and was a very devout Christian and very active in church activities. Shirley led many weekly bible studies and was truly a witness to her many close friends in her church family. She always maintained a great strength, positive attitude and an unwavering faith in her God throughout her entire life. She is survived by her daughter Allison McKenzie and grandson Darren McKenzie both of Spokane, WA, numerous relatives in Spokane and outlying areas as well as British Columbia and son Brian Scheeler. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Richard Scheeler in 1987 and her sister Carol Young of Courtenay, B.C. in 2010. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at St. Joseph's care facility for their warmth, kindness and compassion. Special thanks go to Barb, Molly, Katie and Reid. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 1:00PM at the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 4320 S. Conklin, Spokane, WA 99203. Please join us in celebration of Shirley's life and her homecoming into God's hands. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Shirley's name to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church.
