OSMUN, Eugene P.
(Age 75)

Of Colfax and surrounding areas, died February 15, 2011 in Colfax. He was born May 2, 1935 in Colfax, to William Osmun and Sarah (Love) Osmun. After graduating from Colfax High School, Mr. Osmun was drafted into the Army, where he was eventually brought to Germany. He worked for the Colfax Grange Supply for many years, and then went to work as a truck driver for Arrow Machinery in Colfax, where he eventually retired. He also helped local farmers at harvest by driving truck. Eugene was an avid camper and enjoyed watching and supporting his grandkids play sports. He and his longtime companion Loretta Clark really enjoyed to visit casinos, and were very fond of their puppy "Smoky." Mr. Osmun was a member of the local American Legion and the Colfax Eagles throughout his lifetime.
Survivors include his longtime companion, Loretta Clark; daughters, Linda Gabbard (Dan) and Deanna Vance; two stepsons, Don Shaw and Tim Shaw; six grandchildren, Heather, Daniel, Amber, Natalie, Kylie, and Emily; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and numerous friends, including best friends of over 66 years, Jerry Simmons and his wife Shirley. He is preceded in death by his parents; his former spouse, Mary Lou Vance; his stepson, Richard Shaw; his brother, Joe Osmun; and two sisters, Mary McPheeters and May Ensign.
A celebration of life will be held Monday, February 21, 2011 at 1:30 PM at Bruning Funeral Home Chapel in Colfax with Pastor Don Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Colfax Cemetery.
