Mary Largent Obituary

LARGENT, Mary Ann

Long time Colfax area homemaker, died Saturday, May 7th, 2011 in an accident in Colfax. She was 76. Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 16th with a graveside service at 10:00 am at the Onecho Cemetery followed by a memorial service at the Onecho Bible Church at 11:00 am. Pastor Mike Nyholm will officiate. Viewing will be Thursday and Friday from 9 to 5 at Bruning Funeral Home. Mary Ann was born July 11, 1934 in Newport, Washington to Peter and Maria Hiebert Unruh. Her family moved to the Onecho area in 1946 where her dad was the pastor of the Onecho Bible Church. During her teen years, Mary Ann worked as a housekeeper for several local families. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1953. One day at church she met Richard Dale Largent who was a farmer in the Onecho area. The couple married October 29, 1954. They made their home on the farm and Mary Ann kept busy helping with all the farm activities, raising her children and keeping their home. She was also very active in the Onecho Bible Church and she loved to pray. She was well known as a "prayer warrior". In later years she loved spending time with her grandchildren, was a volunteer at the Grandmothers Club in Colfax and traveled some with her husband. Mary Ann was a "people" person with a kind heart and an open willingness to volunteer wherever the need may be. They moved into Colfax in 1988. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Richard "Dick" Largent at their Colfax home; 4 children, Dale (Margaret) Largent of Tokyo, Japan, Linda (Ron) Rinnan of West Linn, OR., Brian (Debbie) Largent, Colfax, and Gary (Lisa) Largent also of Colfax; seven grandchildren, Shana, Kelli, Kyle, Erica, Andrea, Katie and Kari; brothers Melvin, Harold and Harley Unruh and sisters Phyllis Richter, Betty Boldt and Fay Rossman. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Eldon and a sister Marjorie. The family suggests memorials to the Union Gospel Mission or to Care Net of the Palouse. Receiving Dale's email last night about his mom's sudden death was a shock. She, Dick, and their family were very special in our lives while we were in Colfax. Hers was the first home we stayed in there before moving to Onecho. Our children loved her also. She was an encouragement to us and we always knew she was praying for us. We are praying for all of you today! With Love, Garland and Roberta

We are so grateful for the friendship and relationship we shared with Mary Ann and with Dick. We are very saddened by her unexpected (by us) welcoome into the Presence of her Lord and Savior, the Risen Lord Jesus Christ. We are grateful for the communication from her family to include us in this memorial. Mike and Karen Kotecki

This amazing lady is so dear to my heart. Beauty from the inside that showed on the outside. She was one who always had a kind and encouraging word, as well as a promise from God. Mary Ann had a profound influence on my life when I was younger and my lifelong prayer has been and will continue to be that some day I can be the example of God as she was for me. Loving you and missing you Mary Ann.

She was a BEAUTIFUL woman inside and out!!! She overflowed with God's love and passed that love on to all who knew her. She truly knew and lived the christian life as God would like us all to live. She was a PILLAR to all who knew her and she will be missed.... My heart hurts!!! I wish I had told her how much her thoughtfulness and her prayers (without even asking for them.... she just knew....) meant to me and my family. She "touched" me many many times over the years that I have known her. All I can do is try to live as she lived, she set an example for all of us..... Thank you Mary Ann, we will miss you terribly....
