Helen Leifer Obituary
LEIFER, Helen Anna
(Age 93)
Passed away March 16, 2011 with members of her family by her bedside. She was born April 16, 1917 at the Gordon homestead near Pine City to James Eugene and Margaret Rose (Sullivan) Gordon. She was 12 years old when her mother passed away, and learned responsibility at an early age, helping to raise her younger brothers until she was 24 years old. Helen married Clyde Laverne Leifer December 26, 1941. They farmed in the Pine City area where they were blessed with 10 children. Helen had the love of a good husband, lived a wonderful life, and cherished each baby, whether it was her child, grandchild or great grandchild. She and Clyde enjoyed any event in which their children and grandchildren participated, often arriving early so they could get good seats. She encouraged the players, no matter what age they were, to be good sports and have a sense of humor. Helen's love of family was closely followed by her love for gardening. She provided abundant produce from the garden she tended daily, often before her children awoke early in the mornings. After Helen & Clyde retired in Cheney, they still had a small garden, which Helen tended even last summer. Helen and Clyde were married 67 years when Clyde passed away in 2009. Helen was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Margaret, her step-mother Frances, husband Clyde, son John Leifer, grandson Lance Leifer, siblings Martha, Marie, Harold and John Gordon, and brother- in-law Mel Neighbors.
